Lynnwood, WA (September 6, 2021) – On Saturday, September 4, four people were injured following a crash involving an alleged drunk driver in Lynnwood.
The incident involved two vehicles and took place on Highway 99. The collision was reported that evening at around 11:30 p.m. Local sources revealed that a 31-year-old Grandview man was traveling southbound in a Volkswagen Jetta with two passengers.
The driver reportedly crossed the centerline of the highway. The Volkswagen crashed head-on with an oncoming minivan near Lincoln Way. The driver of the Jetta and one of the passengers were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. The other passenger was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. The 38-year-old Everett woman driving the man was also hospitalized.
Local authorities believe that drugs and alcohol were involved in the crash. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Getting behind the wheel while inebriated or under the influence of drugs or alcohol is never a good idea. Despite this, drunk drivers continue to be a major issue on Seattle’s roads, with intoxicated drivers responsible for a large number of fatalities each year. An inebriated driver loses control of his or her car and is unable to respond effectively to road dangers, increasing the likelihood of a severe crash. Despite popular belief, drinking and driving is a serious public safety issue in Washington. A drunk driver kills one person every 52 minutes in the United States, resulting in around 28 deaths each day.
