Queets, WA - Girl Fatally Hit by Toyota SUV on US-101

Queets, WA (July 21, 2021) - On Monday, July 19, a young girl was killed after being hit in a pedestrian accident in the area of Queets.

The incident occurred on US-101 on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula. According to the Washington State Highway Patrol, a 10-year-old and 12-year-old girl were standing in a grassy area near the shoulder of the highway. Then the driver of a Toyota Rav4 experienced a medical episode, causing the vehicle to leave the highway and enter a nearby ditch.

The Toyota hit both young girls. The 10-year-old sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 12-year-old was airlifted to a hospital in the Tacoma area. At this time, no further information on the fatal crash has been provided at this time.

An ongoing investigation into the deadly accident is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
