Grant Co, WA (April 22, 2021) - A collision in Grant County on Wednesday, April 21, resulted in the death of a driver.

Local reports indicated that the deadly accident occurred at around 8:19 p.m. that evening. Emergency responders were called to the scene at the intersection of WA-26 and Road J SW. According to the Washington State Patrol, a 70-year-old woman attempted to pass a semi-truck, causing her to collide head-on with another vehicle.

The woman suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was later pronounced dead. The 20-year-old Royal City man driving the other vehicle was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital and later transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The cause of the deadly accident was cited as unsafe passing.

An ongoing investigation into the fatal incident is underway.
