De-icing solution causes car accidents on West Seattle Bridge

  A series of motor vehicle accidents occurred between noon and 1 p.m. today after Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) applied de-icer on the roadway. The application of “de-icer can create temporary slipper conditions, particularly if vehicles are exceeding the posted speed limit,” said Rick Sheridan, spokesman for SDOT. Condolences to Beckford Family

Over the weekend, a deadly crash claimed the life of 22-year-old Ian Beckford.  The crash occurred on the I-405 in Bellevue where a driver who was suspected of being high on methamphetamine and driving upwards of 100 mph caused a four car collision which ultimately left Beckford trapped in his car while it burst into flames. This is a tragic turn of events and we send our condolences to the Beckford family.
